CLIPPED LONGHAIR CLASSES
Thanks toJayne Rogers, Azhaaris Cavies for this article -
Question ????? :- What happens to all the longcoated piggers that have a very short show career ?due to novice owners or coat disasters ( for instance pigger develops a liking for chewing its coat!!)
In general the norm seems to be that these piggy outings seem to be few and far between if not non existent or these ex- glamourpiggys end up in the occasional pet class!( which although it swells the coffers of the show society with a few more entries and gives the piggy in question a change of scenery other than the breeding pen, its seems a tad unfair that the “ex- show show piggys “ are judged against the “ pure” cross-bred pets????? And can cause some discontented owners of pets !
THAT’S WHEN THE BRAIN -CELL AWOKE!!!!
Why don’t general Cavy clubs put on classes for Trimmed longcoats? That way the judging of pets would be SO much FAIRER and the trimmed ex-show longcoats could be judged on the Breed merits EXCEPT for coat length!!!!!!!!!
LOGICAL ME THINKS ???
Not to worry for every problem there is an answer and the powers that be gave me the answer, the answer was a certain word
PET.
This is how the “Pet Clipped Classes” came to fruition ( or Clippies class as they are affectionately known to the exhibitors )Thanks to to loads of like minded people in the fancy that think “logically “ about keeping the longcoated breeds from disappearing off the planet!
Many, many thanks to you all, you know who you are and one day your names will up in lights (especially a certain secretary of the oldest longcoat club in the fancy, I am sure that you will know said lady??? and another certain secretary that had the foresight to trial this at her cavy club, with the committees agreement and the entry’s have gone from strength to strength)
So the following cavy clubs now have “Clipped Pet Classes”
For long coated ex-show piggies that do not have the breed standard coat length, but they are still presented to the judge on a show board!!!
**********
The pioneer club that stuck its head up into the firing line
Birmingham Cavy Club (thank you for being on the same planet and starting the Crusade!!!)
Staffordshire Cavy Club (for going for it and joining the crusade)
Sandbach (for becoming another club to join the band of crusaders)
These clipped classes are NO WAY meant to devalue the Breed classes, on the contrary hopefully this will endeavour to encourage MORE long coated exhibitors Adult & Juvenile to venture into showing full coated piggers after getting a taste of the Glamour Pigs and hopefully Wrapping classes and teach- in`s can be can be arranged to encourage new comers to show full coated piggys
Surely the more people that that are exhibting Longs (even in the clipped classes), it will ensure the future of these beautiful pigs so they do not disappear and stay in the limelight!!!
The clipped WILL NEVER CHALLENGE FOR TOP HONOURS, at best there will be “best clipped pet of the day”
Happy piggy showing whatever way you chose to show them!!
Luv “The Clipped Crusader”
